I’ve always known I would want to raise my children to be faithful and love Jesus. I was raised Catholic and attended Catholic school for a few years growing up, received the sacraments of baptism, communion, reconciliation and confirmation, while my children’s father also received the sacraments and attended Catholic school. As an adult, there were times I strayed from attending mass regularly on Sundays, but I would always come back to it. So, it just felt right to bring my kids up the same way. I had both of my sons baptized...

I’m the kind of Mom who is always on the lookout for a good play space, whether that be a public playground or admission-collecting indoor play area. So, this past weekend when we “stumbled upon” the “Fun Forest,” I felt like I had hit the jackpot! We were out and about running errands in Chesapeake (Virginia), and I had promised them we would go play, so I decided to look up the options in the area…and I saw that within the nearby city park was a place called “Fun Forest.” Okay, easy enough....

My home has been overtaken by toys. Sure we try to limit the toys to the boys bedroom, but inevitably their stuff makes into into the living area – under and in the couches, the coffee table, kitchen table, kitchen counters, etc… It’s not uncommon to stumble upon a ball, car or action figure in our bedroom either – under the bed, by the window or even between the sheets! I’m sure that’s a “toy story” we all deal with…BUT the funny thing is, my boys’ favorite “toys”...

My older toddler has an obsession with the letter “P.” I’m not sure why the 16th letter of the alphabet has become his favorite. His first name doesn’t start with it, nor do his middle or last names…but he has a clear affection for the letter “P.” When we’re driving around town – and we live near a downtown area, so you know, the “P” sign are everywhere because “P” is for parking. He is also quick to point out the P’s and the number of them in any given...

I recently took a flight with my two toddlers by myself. Sure, they’ve flown before and obviously I have too, but it’s either been me and just one baby, or me with daddy and both babies, but this last time… I was running the “zone” all by myself! There was 2 of them and only one Mommy. I did have a little anxiety going into it, from the logistics of pushing the stroller and retrieving our roller bags from the carousel and getting everything and everyone in the car, to just the thought of keeping both boys...

YES. My children act differently with me than they do with Daddy, or anyone else for that matter. It’s a behavior that I’d read about and put in the back of my mental file cabinet, but I didn’t really worry too much about it, until now. WARNING — this post is going to be somewhat of a “vent.” I am in the thick of it. I have two toddler BOYS and Daddy has been out of state working, making me a “single” Mommy. I understand their both at ages where learning to control feelings and emotions...

There are stacks of denim jeans I have that I wore pre-mommyhood, that still sit in my closet, because I might just wear them again. For me the issue isn’t fitting into them, although a few are on the snug side, but more like they just don’t fit the same. The same can be said for lots of the other pieces of clothing I have hanging in my closet and in my drawers. There are tops, dresses and other garments that used to be my main staples, but these days, not so much. I will admit becoming a Mom has influenced my “style.”...

When it comes to being “healthy” it can bean ongoing struggle. Everyone has their own idea of what healthy is and how to achieve it. I know some Moms and families try to go the organic and all-natural route, no matter what the cost…while there are others who keep the kids “granola” and not let them have anything that resembles sweets or sugar, and then some parents like me, who try to be healthy but tend to mix it up with other options too. So when I say “try” to be healthy, I mean of course I...

Bedtime at my house has become ripe for a battle, and in my case it’s 2 against one! Yes, I have 2 toddlers and yes, I have tried to incorporate routines and schedules into our lives to create a seamless daily transition to get them to bed…but lately we’ve been going to bed on a battlefield and I have been throwing in the white towel. Not too long ago, I was venting about them (and me) needing a nap, but bedtime has become a whole ‘nother BEAST! I’ve got two boys who are halfway to being 3 and 2 respectively....

A new public library recently opened up in downtown Norfolk, and since it’s just a hop, skip and a jump away from where we live AND it’s been too cold to play outside, I loaded up the kids in the car and we headed over to check it out. The Slover Library just opened last month, and I happen to love things that are new! So in this case, how nice to make it an outing to visit a beautiful building with a huge space on the 2nd floor that’s just for kids. The Youth library features a play area called “Playscape.”...
