Sparkle Stories, a small independent media company based in Charlotte, Vermont, was included in iTunes’ prestigious “Best of 2013” podcasts list. Apple also selected the Sparkle Stories’ podcasts among its twelve “New This Year” category.
“That iTunes chose Sparkle Stories is amazing and kind of unexpected,” said David Sewell McCann, who co-founded Sparkle Stories in 2010 with his wife and business partner, Lisabeth. “We’re not typical children’s media. We do old-time radio storytelling with a slow living impulse. So we’re delighted that iTunes took notice and named us as one of the year’s best!”
Featuring the work of Sewell McCann– a storyteller and performer– Sparkle Stories’ podcasts are known for their simple and entertaining stories that inspire children to play, marvel, laugh, and be kind. Sparkle Stories produces fresh audio stories each week for subscribers via iTunes and the company’s website, www.SparkleStories.com.
iTunes hosts over 250,000 podcasts. Sparkle Stories was one of only 42 podcasts that made the “Best of 2013” podcast list, and the only one from the ‘Kids and Family’ category.
Sparkle Stories launched their “Free Story” Podcast on iTunes in August 2013. Within twenty-four hours, it became the #1 Podcast in iTunes Kids and Family section, above the well-established Sesame Street. Since then, iTunes curators have consistently placed the Sparkle Stories podcast #1 in “New and Noteworthy” for the Kids and Family category.
