When you’re a parent, the topic of “is your kid a ‘good’ sleeper” tends to come up. Well, in my case, I’d say yes, my kids are good sleepers…but they aren’t perfect sleepers. And, as they grow and try to exercise their voice and push limits when it comes to napping and bedtime, whether or not they are a ‘good’ sleeper isn’t so much the problem, as is how can you get them to sleep peacefully with minimal stress. It’s an ongoing struggle, and I’ve written about...

It’s finally that time of night where I have a moment to myself. The kids are in bed and I’m not quite ready to go…so what to do in my free time but write a new post on the blog! And as I’m thinking of what to write about, all that comes across my mind is diapers…and my choice for what works best at night. I wish it wasn’t even an issue, or a situation I had come to know very well. Toddler boys who have wet the bed because their diaper didn’t last the advertised “12-hours” on the box....

When I was living in Virginia, I met a talented musician named Holly Bishop, who runs a great toddler/preschool music program in the Hampton Roads area called Little Rockstars. Well, now she has released her very own children’s music CD, Away We Go! She was sweet enough to send me a copy to enjoy with my boys, and we love it! So far our favorite track is “Baby Signs.” Her music and the songs on the CD are fun and (in my opinion), are just the right blend to appeal to the younger set, while still being pleasant for grownup...

Since today is the official first day of fall, I figured I’d do a post about my favorite fall fashion pieces for kids. Of course my perspective comes from one of a boy Mom, but I think my picks are essential must haves for any tot when things start to cool down! 1. RAIN BOOTS There is just something about kids and rain boots that go hand in hand. As grown ups we may wear them more out of necessity than for fashion, but with children it just seems like it should be a closet staple. There are so many fun colors and prints –...

I am always on the lookout for new foods, snacks and goodies to give to my boys when we’re at home and on the go. So, I thought why not post and share what we’re munching on…right!?!? Seasons change and so do their choices, but I came up on a couple new snacks and they have renewed interest in an old one, so check out our “Toddler Favs this Month.” First up, I found these rice rollers. I will admit, I do check out the snacks other parents give their kids at the playgrounds and when we’re out and about....

It wasn’t hard to wean either of my boys off the bottle to a sippy cup. However, my younger toddler is EXTREMELY picky when it comes to his sippy cup for drinking milk! When it came time for him to give up his bottle, it took less than a week for him to realize the bottle wasn’t coming back, and I bought him his own set of sippy cups so he wouldn’t have to share or use the same ones as his big bro… At first, before I made all his bottles disappear, I would put water in his sippy cups to get him used to a cup and...

There is something so cute about baby boys wearing bow ties. Since I have two little boys, I can’t pretty them up with hair bows and girlie accessories, but that doesn’t mean all bows are out of the question! So, when it came time to decide what my little guys would wear for my sister’s wedding, bow ties seemed to be the natural choice. Prior to the event I hadn’t ever tried to put either one in a bow tie, so maybe I should have practiced, at least with my younger one, but oh well… The theme was neon, so...

Mother’s Day is coming up this Sunday, May 10, so if you’re still trying to figure out what to get Mom, I put together some great ideas for Mother’s Day gifts for my “day job.” It really is the thought that counts, and I would love nothing more than to give mine a gift that truly makes her smile. So, after searching high and low, here are some of the ideas I came up with for every mother that may be on your list! Feel free to pass this on to anyone who needs “help!” Here’s the television segment I...

Have you ever considered getting headphones for your toddler? You might not regard it as a “must have” for your tyke, but they have all kinds of uses and can actually come in pretty handy. My kids are pretty lucky, they get to go to sporting events and shows, ride on airplanes and use handheld devices aka tablets. The one thing all of those activities have in common is that the experiences can be “enhanced with “headphones.” I’ve noticed my boys’ sensitivity to the sometimes loud speakers at events...
