Haute Mom: Sasha-Ann Simons

Sashaphoto1Name: Sasha-Ann Simons
Children & Ages: Cyanne, 7 & Mykayle, 6
Hometown/Current Location: Kingston, Jamaica / Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Quick Bio: Mommy life has always been a major juggling act for me. When I wasn’t changing diapers or feeding my then-infant and toddler, I was working full-time towards my Journalism degree. I got my start in television news 7 years ago, and have landed positions in both reporting and producing. I recently hopped over to the world of media relations and communications, working for the Ontario government. I love that my babies have been with me every step of the way, and can only hope my sacrifices will teach them how to fight for their dreams and, above all, do what it is that they love. I’m a music lover – classics and the new stuff. I love to eat, travel and can’t wait to add more stamps to my passport. I share personal (and sometimes wacky) stories and more on my blog Simons Says at http://simons-says.com. You can otherwise keep up with me on Facebook and Twitter

Q: What is your favorite piece of advice to new Moms?
A: I always like to tell new moms, that though they’ll have a ton of questions and eagerly want to seek the advice of mothers who have already been down this road – to just enjoy the moment with their new baby and figure things out for themselves. Sometimes you’ll get it right and sometimes you won’t, but motherhood provides a great learning experience for women. And just think about all the funny stories you’ll have to share!

Q: How would you describe your parenting style?
A: I give my children the best of two worlds – I’m strict but I’m also lots of fun. I’m lucky that my daughters have both adopted my silly personality traits, so we are constantly laughing about something! We have common interests, like dancing and singing, so it’s often a party in our house. The girls are also really starting to know my likes, dislikes, and what I absolutely won’t tolerate. Do they push my buttons anyway? They sure do. But they know they’ll pay the consequence with some discipline from mommy.

Q: What’s your most memorable Mommy moment to date?
A: It would have to be my second child’s home birth. It went so smoothly (aside from the excruciating pain) and was such an intimate experience. I’ll never forget the feeling of being in the comfort of my own home in those first few moments with my new little family.

Q: As a Mommy what is it that you feel you do “right”? Share something you have learned about yourself since you became a Mom.
A: Motherhood has really shown me how much of a bookworm and scholar I was as a child. I have such a keen interest in how the girls are doing in school and enjoy teaching them academic subjects outside of the classroom. The teachers usually know me by first name, because I’m “that” mom sometimes, but there is no shame in my game when it comes to my children and their success.

Q: Describe your “Haute Mom” (fashion) style!
A: My style is very simple, chic, and sophisticated (when it needs to be). I love to bargain hunt, perhaps it’s the mom in me. I put myself together very well, and always at a fraction of the price many others are willing to pay. For years, I’ve mainly rocked my hair in various short styles and colours, not only because I think short hair cuts are super sexy, but also because I tend to look very youthful with longer hair. I try to keep my nails manicured; I wear minimal makeup and like to experiment with lipstick colours. At the very least, my eyebrows must be shaped at all times (I’m a fan of threading), or else I won’t be caught dead outside without a fabulous pair of sunglasses to hide them.

Haute Mom: Karen Endsley

usgirlshmName: Karen Endsley
Children: Sienna Blaise, 3 ½ years old
Hometown/Current Location: Orlando, FL/Norfolk, VA
Quick Bio: I am the host of Cooking from the Heart, a cooking show geared toward busy moms/dads who want to prepare healthy, delicious, budget-friendly meals for their families, but don’t want to miss out on precious family time, by being stuck all day in the kitchen. This is my dream gig because I love cooking and I love helping people find ways to simplify their lives. They say if you do what you love, they you will be successful, and I am thrilled to say that my “local” cooking show was picked up nationally in June and will now be available in 57,000,000 homes nationwide! It’s so exciting to think that someone in L.A. or N.Y could be making my chicken and dumplings!

All my life I’ve loved adventures. I’ve hiked the Great Wall of China, gone paragliding in the Swiss Alps, canoed in the Amazon River and also ridden through the Andes on the top of a train, among other things. After marrying the man of my dreams in my late thirties, I embarked on the biggest adventure of all, motherhood. As “older parents” our biggest challenge has been keeping up with our daughter’s energy. I love that we have learned to play again – I have an excuse to jump around inside bounce houses and go to skating rinks! And, I really love when my wonderful husband takes Sienna for a Daddy/Daughter day and I get to recharge!

You can check out the show at www.cox11.com or nationally on AMG networks. Also, I upload the shows and other recipes, tips, pictures etc on my Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/KarenIsCookingFromTheHeart

Q: What is your favorite piece of advice to new Moms?
A: If there is one piece of advice I would give to a new mom, it would be “Don’t compare yourself to other mothers!” When you are in the throes of nursing, dealing with diapers, and basically surviving on 4 hours of “interrupted” sleep a night, it is easy to see other mothers apparently dealing with everything beautifully. They look great and it seem to be breezing through what you struggle to get through on a daily basis, and you feel like an utter failure. But trust me, I know this through personal experience (and lots of conversations with moms), their homes aren’t spotless, their laundry isn’t all done, and you probably just caught them on “shower day.”

Q: How would you describe your parenting style?
A: Lots of conversations and lots of love. I think it’s easier to model and explain what you expect for your child at a young age. They are such little sponges and things like manners and good behavior will become “first” nature if they know what is expected of them. When my daughter exhibits good behavior I always praise her (and often rain kisses on her). When she does something naughty, I always address it immediately –no matter where we are or what we are doing. I tell her we need to have a “conversation” and explain why the behavior was naughty, what consequences it can have and how she always has a choice when it comes to her behavior. Since we started having our conversations, I can probably count on one hand the number of times I’ve had to put her in time out. Also, because she understands what is going on and has some control over her “choices,” tantrums have practically become a thing of the past.

Q: As a Mommy what is it that you feel you do “right”?
A: As the mommy of a wonderful little girl, I think one of the most important things to do is to make sure my daughter has a great sense of self and loads of confidence. I try to reinforce this in a couple of ways. I make sure that she knows how deeply she is loved, that no matter what happens, if she has a naughty moment etc….  or even if I am frustrated with her behavior at the moment, I will always love her completely. I also try to make sure I always praise her as a whole. By this I mean I tell her she is very smart, funny, brave, kind, silly, etc… I want her to know she has strengths in many areas, so that in the future, if one aspect of her falters, she will have so much more to draw from and won’t lose confidence in herself.

Q: What is the best surprise you/ve ever done for your kids/family?
A: We moved away from home (FL) almost 3 years ago, leaving all of our family behind. My daughter is an only child and as such was very close to her older twin cousins and absolutely adores them. When I found out my 11 year old niece was going to be giving her first concert, I knew we couldn’t miss it. I don’t know who was more excited when I told her that we were not going to school that day, but instead to Florida to see her cousins. Sienna was thrilled! I also didn’t tell my sister or any of her family we were coming. My daughter and I hid on the front porch when we got to their house and my mother went in to visit. She sent the kids out to get something she “forgot” in the car, and we jumped out! The screams of delight brought my sister out of the house, and seeing the tears in her eyes made my heart swell. There was so much love! It was the best 2 way surprise ever!!!

Haute Mom: Jamila Powell

curlyhairName: Jamila Powell
Child & Age: Magnolia Rose Dennis (2)
Hometown/Current Location: Miramar, Florida
Quick Bio: My name is Jamila Powell, and I am from the great state of Maryland. I’m a full-time attorney, Mommy, girlfriend, and salon owner. I’ve practiced law for the past ten years, but have always loved the idea of having my own piece of the pie, and creating my own empire with my partner in crime to better the life of my little muchkin. My love and passion is my salon, Maggie Rose, an extension bar and lash lab located in Miami. We can be found online at http://www.maggierosetresses.com, @maggierosesalon on Instagram, facebook.com/maggierosemiami on Facebook.

Q: How do you balance being a Mommy and keeping your sense of self?
A: I think keeping your sense of self is so very important, because ultimately our lives change the most. I really try hard to make sure I remain in contact with my friends and try to make it a priority to get out by myself without the baby. I also believe a support system is critical.  I have been blessed to have some awesome people I can trust with my daughter, which affords me the opportunity to go places alone, and with my boyfriend. It honestly is very hard, but I try to do the best I can.

Q: What is your favorite piece of advice to new Moms?
A: My favorite piece of advice is that you are totally equipped for this awesome experience, and to trust your Mommy instincts. A lot of people will have advice on what you should and shouldn’t do, but ultimately you have to do what is right for you and your child.

Q: Share something you have learned about yourself since you became a Mom.
A: I’ve learned that I’m even more awesome than I thought. I’m constantly amazed at my ability to multi-task and get so much done in one day.

Q: Describe your “Haute Mom” (fashion) style!
A: Now that I’ve opened my own salon, my beauty regiment has changed, but for the better. I would describe my style as effortlessly fresh faced. I don’t do too much, but I do wear custom extensions, which are a must for me; mink eyelash extensions, which are gorgeous, and I keep my brows sculpted and tinted. I put on a little lip gloss and my earrings before leaving the house, and I feel like Miss America.

Haute Mom: Mary Kathryn Wood

10462995_10152533172785450_1000928058798471033_nName: Mary Kathryn Wood “WooWoo”
Child & Age: Maggie, 3 Years Old
Hometown/Current Location: Born & Raised in Norfolk, Va
Quick Bio: Radio Personality on 94.9 The Point for the last 12 years! Started as an intern when I was a senior at Maury High School & worked my way up to having my own show! Hard work & dedication – plus persistence paid off! I am married to McCoy Wood (married since November 2007) and we have 1 daughter Maggie. I am the youngest of 4 kids. My parents still live in Norfolk – my sister is in Norfolk, 1 brother lives in Richmond, the other is in Chesapeake. Yes – my brothers are twins. And my mom is a twin! Thus the reason I think 1 kid is enough. HA HA! I love working on the radio – all the fun, the live music, the interaction with the community. I have helped to raise over $3 Million for CHKD via our annual 94.9 The Point Radiothon. I love running, margaritas at Luna Maya & going to the beach with Maggie.

Q: What is your “go to” snack/toy/show/trick when your kids start to fuss?
A: Goldfish and Lollipops! HA HA! Also – the promise of a bike ride to the park or a trip to the beach can usually get Maggie out of a funky mood. I am not below bribery.

Q: What is your favorite piece of advice to new Moms?
A: If you are happy, your baby will be happy! Babies & Kids can pick up when Mom is in a bad mood … so I always try to be happy & positive when I am around Maggie. Also – go with your gut. Sometimes getting advice & opinions from friends/family/the internet can only make you do something you as a parent don’t feel right with. Go with your gut.

Q: How do you incorporate fitness into your daily routine?
A: This is a big part of my day! I always make time for a work out … no excuses. I work a full day – and usually pick up Maggie by 12 Noon. I will either work in a 30 minute run before 12, or go to a yoga or Pure Barre class at night around 7PM. I try to work out at least 6 days a week. It isn’t always the same thing – but running/yoga/Pure Barre are my favorite things right now.

Q: How would you describe your parenting style?
A: I think I am 90% fun – 10% disciplinarian. But I think McCoy & I hit the kid lottery. Maggie has been the easiest & happiest little girl since the day we brought her home. We have never had an on the floor temper tantrum or meltdowns in the Target toy aisle. Terrible 2’s did not happen for us. It was Terrific 2’s! *Knock on Wood* But really – she is just an awesome, well mannered, happy little girl. I think her attitude is definitely a reflection of how we parent her. She really is a special little thing & I think seeing her mom & Dad laughing & enjoying life makes her realize there is no reason to lay on the floor screaming. But ask me this again when she’s 16!

Haute Mom: Heather Vines-Bright

2014-04-23 16.21.28Name:  Heather Vines-Bright
Child: & Age: Raiden, 7
Hometown/Current Location: San Jose, CA/Tempe, AZ
Quick Bio: I am a full-time working Mom and Fitness Competitor/Model and I have a passion for inspiring people to find the true beauty within themselves by helping them feel better and look better through my fitness blog, health coaching and motivational speaking. My motivational speaking platform “Bright Girl Speaks” targets adolescent girls and young women.  I talk to them about proper nutrition, exercise, body image, self-esteem and confidence.  This is important to me because growing up I was bullied and battled with many body image and self-esteem issues.  I want to share my stories with these girls and be a positive role model to help them through some of those difficult periods.

Q: How do you balance being a Mommy and keeping your sense of self?
A: My workout time is definitely my way of keeping my sense of self. It’s my one hour to unplug from being a wife and mommy and a time when I don’t have to worry about work, cleaning the house or making sure homework is done. I just listen to my music and know that I am doing something good for myself, my mind and my body.

Q: How do you incorporate fitness into your daily routine?
Due to my busy schedule, I incorporate fitness into my daily routine however I can. Whether it be a 5:00am gym workout, quick workout on my lunch break, going to the gym after work, a 20 minute jog or walk or ladder drills with my son. I try to dedicate at least 4 days a week to working out.

Haute Mom Feature

Q: As a Mommy what is it that you feel you do “right”?
A: My son is extremely polite and caring. I feel that I have helped develop those characteristics by setting a good example. I always make sure he says please and thank you and even though he is an only child he is very giving and always thinks about others before himself.

Q: Share something you have learned about yourself since you became a Mom.
Since being a Mom I have learned that there is nothing more important than my family.  It is easy to get caught up in work, but I always try to put my family first and if that means changing my workout schedule or reprioritizing certain things then that’s what I will do.  I know that I will never get back certain moments so I try to cherish and remember them.

Haute Mom: Kristen Crowley

image1Name: Kristen Crowley
Children & Ages: Veronica 6, Talon 1
Hometown/Current Location: South Lyon, MI/Chesapeake, VA
Quick Bio: Hi everyone! I am not quite sure where to start, probably because it is 4:00 am and I am getting ready for work and the coffee has not kicked in yet! Yes, my day starts at 3:30 am and ends around 10:00 pm after I get the kids (including the dogs and my husband!) to bed and the house back in order.  I am first and foremost a busy Mom who finds a way to work in a career as your local Morning Traffic Reporter and Noon Anchor at WTKR NewsChannel 3 & WGNT CW27. I love living in Hampton Roads, I have lived here for 15 years now. This may come as shock to some of you but I did NOT move here because of the military! I am a country girl at heart and I grew up on a horse farm in Michigan, I was transferred to this area as the Visual Merchandising Manager for Lord & Taylor. After the store closed I continued to work in the restaurant biz here in the area because I LOVE great food and making fabulous libations! I slowly made my transition into television and had already met my AMAZING husband who was in the Navy and has since retired after 23 years of service. I am beyond blessed to now be able to work, live and raise my family in an area that feels like home. My life is crazy and I love every minute of it! Follow me on twitter @kristencrowley3 or on Facebook at Kristen Crowley WTKR!

Q: What is your “go to” snack/toy/show/trick when your kids start to fuss?
A: In this digital age I am not ashamed to say that I use the iPhone or iPad if I know we are close to dinner time when we are out and about and the kids are getting fussy (Or I just need to empty the dishwasher in peace!). I also love keeping little snacks in my bag, yogurt bites, puffs, or a squeeze fruit pack so it keeps my youngest from going into hulk mode 🙂

Q: How do you balance being a Mommy and keeping your sense of self?
A: If I did not have my job I would live in workout clothes and a ball cap! I always take at least 10-15 minutes to plan out my outfit(s) and get ready for the next day. Outside of work I try to always throw on tinted moisturizer, mascara and lip gloss! It makes me feel SOMEWHAT pulled together, even if I have food smeared on my shirt. I have also learned to schedule in MY time i.e. hair, nails, gym, and facials to make myself feel somewhat relaxed…as short lived as that may be! I have to admit though, I am pretty much focused on my kids and families needs before mine!

Q: What is your favorite piece of advice to new Moms?
A: Don’t stress! Every baby is different, go with your gut! You don’t see any kids in High School still carrying a pacifier or a blanket do ya? Forget the timelines! Just focus on the love and joy of YOUR kids and what makes them special!

family pic

Q: How do you incorporate fitness into your daily routine?
A: I make it work when I can, I HAVE to go to the gym on the way home from work or it typically does not happen. I  try to go for a walk / run with the kids and the dogs when it is nice out. I still work with a personal trainer twice a week. It is a sacrifice I am willing to make to have someone holding me accountable and keeping me in check. If you skip eating out one night a week you can use that money to work out with a trainer once or twice a week. The work in the gym will last you longer than the dinner out will! I also have issues with my shoulder, back and foot (the giant baby has wreaked my shoulder because of his size!) so I need a trainer to make sure I am doing things 100% correct so that I don’t hurt myself and Brian has actually helped rehab my shoulder! My other trick is I ALWAYS cook dinner with the music turned up, the kids and I dance and I do 20-25 squats whenever I have a spare moment or while holding Talon! The added weight makes those quick squats really burn!

Q: How would you describe your parenting style?
A: Old school meets new school. I am very balanced in picking my battles and letting my kids make a lot of their own choices, BUT I am strict on respect and I have a zero tolerance policy for tantrums and whining. I am also very consistent with discipline and expectations. I grew up with a mother who was a horse trainer so I learned teaching behaviors takes consistent repetition day in and day out. Be who you want your kids to be and practice what you preach! That means both parents and whomever else may be around!

Q: Describe your “Haute Mom” (fashion) style!
Having a background in fashion merchandising helped me cultivate my style. I love fashion but I am not big on trends or fads. I love classic cuts, pops of color, flattering fits and timeless pieces. I think if you feel good in your clothes and know your body type you can grab key pieces and always feel put together! Take your best asset and build off of that! Oh and a great pair of shoes never hurts!

Q: Describe your “Haute Mom” (fashion) style!
A: I have to say I am not stylish! I love my sweatpants and stretch pants! However, I do love me some high heels too. Dresses that are flowey are my favorite! Nothing too tight! I’m a mom now! HAHA!

Haute Mom: Alicia French

aliciaName: Alicia French
Children & Ages: Joseph (4 years) and Veronica (8 months)
Hometown/Current Location: Grew up in Orangevale, Ca and live currently in Sacramento, Ca.
Quick Bio: A California native, I grew up in a small town in the suburbs of Sacramento. I started dancing at a private studio at the age of 5, where I found a passion for dance that has stayed with me and served me well my entire life. I danced there throughout all of high school, eventually joining the Company and traveling and competing extensively.

With strong family roots, I chose to go to college close to home and graduated in 2003 with my degree in Criminal Justice from California State University Sacramento, where I also danced on the Dance Team, performing at football and basketball games and other sporting events. After graduation, I was certain that I still wanted to dance and set my hopes upon dancing in professional sports, having enjoyed my college dancing experience so much. In 2004 I was so fortunate to be selected to be a member of one of the most elite cheerleading teams in the NFL, the Oakland Raiderettes. I spent 4 wonderful years as a part of that team, my final year as a co-captain.

After living that dream, I started a new dream, of getting married and starting a family. I have been blessed beyond words to be married to my amazing husband Nick, who has taught me more about myself than I have ever imagined I would know, and to be mommy to two wonderful children; Joseph and Veronica, the absolute light of my world. Having worked in and around politics for over a decade, I currently work for the California State Senate.

Q: How do you balance being a Mommy and keeping your sense of self?
A: I often remind myself that when listening to the emergency information on an airplane before takeoff, they always say to fit yourself with an oxygen mask *before* attending to your children. This is because you can take better care of your children if you take care of yourself *first*.

I find this to be analogous to parenthood in general. In order to be good role models, to be good teachers, mentors, supporters and guides to our children, we must live a life by example – showing them that you can be successful in a career, teaching them that you should be kind and generous with a giving heart, that you can be fun, you can be strong, you should have hobbies and interests that you pursue and dreams that you chase. One of the most important values I hope to instill in them that happiness is a daily choice. If a child sees a parent living a fulfilling and joyous life, it will inspire them to do the same. Everything I do, everything I say, my children see. Therefore, it is incumbent upon me to know who I am, I must choose a wonderful life and live for me.

French6

Q: What is your favorite piece of advice to new Moms?
A: Trust yourself and don’t listen to too much advice! When you become pregnant, everyone becomes an expert on how to me a mom. Your sisters, your mother-in-law, the stranger at the grocery store, everyone will give you “words of wisdom” and advice – whether advice was asked for or not. Do this, don’t do that. It can be quite intrusive and overwhelming. Definitely listen, as these words can often be wise and learned from years of experience. Read all the books and articles and blogs so you feel comfortable with what is about to happen to your life, for undoubtedly it will be the most major change you will likely ever experience. *But take it all with a grain of salt*. Your child will be different than any child that came before! What worked for your husband’s cousin’s babysitter’s neighbor may not work for your child! Try the suggestions, try a million different things – but if it doesn’t work don’t stress out! As mothers and parents, we certainly don’t need more pressure to feel as though we are doing something right or wrong. When I was potty training my son, I had several friends who SWORE by this new 3 day method. Potty training in three days? Sign me up!! In reality, it took much longer than that for my son to learn to use the potty – but it did happen eventually and now that he is four it didn’t matter that it took 3 days or 8 months.

Just listen to yourself, and what works best for your individual family, your individual child. Only you can possibly know the extenuating circumstances that surround your family. Not every piece of advice can or should apply, not every method works, not every suggestion is valid. Parenthood is trial and error, and though we are all scared, we all eventually find our way!

Q: How do you incorporate fitness into your daily routine?
A: It is VERY hard for me to sacrifice my time with my children. Being a “40 hour a week, 9-5” working mommy with an hour long commute to and from the office, I already feel that my time is precious and limited. That being said, I get up at 5 am, work out before the kids wake up and that way I don’t feel that I have to surrender any of my priceless time with the ones I love the most. Being physically active helps my emotional well-being and I am a more patient mom, more attentive wife, more diligent employee and a happier person in general if I do manage to squeeze fitness into my schedule. While being up so early is sometimes difficult, the gym is never packed, and the other people who are there are generally as motivated as myself to get in a workout and get out – there is much less chatting and loitering. And an added bonus that I didn’t count on…I get to see and appreciate the sun rise nearly every day.

Q: What’s your most memorable Mommy moment to date?
A: When I became pregnant with my second child, an irrational mommy fear set in. What if my son (my first born) resents me for having a second child? What if he is deprived of my already precious time, now that I will have two children to attend to? What if he thinks I don’t love him enough and need another child to fill some sort of “void” in my heart? I felt an immense sense of guilt, these questions burned in my mind, even up until my 9th month of pregnancy. But the day my daughter was born and my son met his sister in the hospital, every fear I had faded away until it seemed positively silly that I ever had worried at all. The look on his face when he saw her for the first time was pure unadulterated joy. I hadn’t deprived my child, no quite the contrary – I gave him the most precious gift. For me, my most memorable moment as a mommy isn’t a single experience. Rather, it is a series of moments. From that first moment that he laid eyes on her, it has only gotten better. When I see him singing her to sleep in her crib, when he acts silly to make her laugh, when she crawls around to follow him because she wants to just be near him, when he shows her how to do something, when they play together in the sand at the beach – these are the moments that are most memorable and give me the validation as a mother that having two children was the best decision of my life.

Quick Bio: I’m the dayside Executive Producer at Local 10 News in Miami. I love the news business, I can honestly say I have never had a boring day at work! I grew up here in South Florida and consider myself lucky to live near family and friends who have I have known my entire life. I am thankful everyday for my amazing husband, Donnie. We are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary in November and I could never juggle it all without his help. Between work, appointments, and  play dates I feel like I never stop moving! I started my blog, Working Mom Magic, for other moms who are trying to keep it all together.

Q: What is your “go to” snack/toy/show/trick when your kids start to fuss?
A: I feel like any problem can be solved with a bag of goldfish crackers. For real.

Q: What is your favorite piece of advice to new Moms?
A: Don’t stress! With my son, I was always worried about if I was doing everything ‘right’. I took everyone else’s advice. With my second baby, I was much more confident in my parenting. Just because something works for someone else’s child, doesn’t mean it will work for yours.. so now I always trust my gut. And try to enjoy everything, it goes by so fast. One day you will miss those middle of the night feedings!!

Q: How do you incorporate fitness into your daily routine?
A: My husband & I take turns going to the gym every other day. I’m up at 5am, so I can get my workout in and be back by 6:45 when the kids wake up. It was really hard to get started, but now that we have our routine, I love it. I have way more energy and it helped me get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.

Q: What’s your most memorable Mommy moment to date?
A: The day my son came to the hospital to meet his baby sister. He had been asking for a sibling for so long, it was really awesome to see his reaction to her. Even now… watching them interact is my favorite thing. Especially now that she is a little older, she is obsessed with him. It’s so freaking cute.

Q: As a Mommy what is it that you feel you do “right”? Share something you have learned about yourself since you became a Mom.
A: I realized early on I can’t do it all. I have always been a type-A personality, but I had to let go of some of that when I became a mom. Now I try not to be so hard on myself. If I can’t make cookies for the class party, I simply say no and offer some money instead. If my kids have a play or an appointment, I am honest with my bosses explaining why I will be late. As long as I go to bed each night feeling like I did my best to make my kids feel special & loved… then I feel like I did my job.

Q: How do you balance being a Mommy and keeping your sense of self?
A: The gym! It’s the one hour of the day that’s all mine, keeps me sane and happy.

Q: What is your favorite piece of advice to new Moms?
A: Trust your gut. We’re all newbies, but I really believe we instinctively know what’s best for our kids. Also, find a mom friend who you can say anything to – judgement free. We all need someone like that in our lives.

Q: How do you incorporate fitness into your daily routine?
A: I’m all about a good workout! Weightlifting, plyometrics, Flywheel, walking, yoga – anything that gets me moving and sweating.

Q: Share your best or favorite place for a family vacation and tell us why.
A: Laguna Beach, CA. It’s a little slice of heaven – beautiful weather year-round, mountains, beach, farmers markets, healthy eats, beautiful parks, a beachside playground, a great public library and delicious restaurants. It’s my happy place – and it’s 40 minute away from Disneyland 🙂

Q: As a Mommy what is it that you feel you do “right”?
A: Our girls are happy, secure, nice kids. We try hard to make sure they appreciate everything in their lives, shower each other & their family members with love and say please and thank you all the time.

Q: Share something you have learned about yourself since you became a Mom.
A: I like order. Chaos and endless loud noise overwhelms me. I always considered myself to be free-flowing, but turns out a love a good schedule.
