I’m not sure if the idea of “garlic fries” will resonate with people outside of Northern California, but if you’re familiar with the area and/or are a garlic lover, I’m sure you’ve heard of Gilroy. At any rate, yesterday I had the opportunity to be part of a special blogger event in San Francisco to celebrate Gilroy Garlic Fries at McDonald’s. I have been very interested to get a taste of these fries and it was a bonus that I could bring my family with me…I didn’t have to twist the...

Every year when October comes and the signs of fall are around, it’s hard not to think of all the yummy goodness that comes along with it. I mean all the sweet treats and fun foods that always seem to kick off at Halloween and take us to Thanksgiving and eventually to Christmas and the New Year! So, as we close in on some spooky good times for the last day of this month, I couldn’t help but notice a couple really cute handmade Halloween-themed treats. First up, my friend Jenni posted this fabulous picture of some fun Jalapeno...

My girlfriend posted a photo of these fruit kabobs she put together for her kids holiday party and these Santa Hats are TOO CUTE not to share!! All you need are toothpicks, strawberries, flat marshmallows – used for smores and (green) grapes!!! HO HO HO!!! ...

Every week, Chef Bob of Farm Fresh Supermarkets, makes an appearance on the TV show I host and this week he made his “Holiday Mix Nuts Roca Candy.” Now, I’m not big on nuts, but I know people tend to go “nuts” for this stuff, especially around this time of year! Well, he graciously shared his recipe with me, so now I’m going to share it with you! Holiday Mix Nuts Roca Candy Prep time: 10 minutes Cooking time: 20 minutes Cooling time: 1 hour Ingredients: 1 lb. Unsalted Butter 2 cups Sugar 2 Tbsp Light...

I decorated these fun Christmas Tree cupcakes on the show – courtesy of Twisted Sisters Cupcakes, and I thought it was such a simple, but yet very cute idea and easy to do. All you need are the cupcake, sugar (ice cream) cones, green icing, white frosting and powdered sugar, sprinkles, mini M&Ms, etc… whatever you want to decorate with on your tree. A small piece of fondant can also be used to cut and add a star as a tree topper! First, bake and cool the cupcakes. Then you take your cupcake and cover with white frosting,...

Halloween is such a fun time of year. It’s a quick one day “holiday,” that usually gets lots of play in the week(s) before the actual day when kids (young and old) don their costumes and head out for some treats! Anyway, I wanted to share some Halloween goodies in the form of the above photo, which I got from my Media Blogger friend Monica. I just love the simple creativity to make it spooky and fun for the occasion. You may need to do some fancy chopping on the olives to get the spider just right..but what a fun alternative...

I’ve found a new way to entice my toddler to eat… He’s definitely entered the “picky” stage where he will not eat everything in front of him, but rather pick and choose what he deems “appetizing.” There really seems to be no rhyme or reason as to what he will eat and it’s almost like a flavor of the day/week where his favorite foods seem to be on his “what’s trending” list! So, what happened was… I had brought home my leftovers one evening, and among the items were...

Carrot Cake 3 cups flour 2 cups sugar 2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp cinnamon 2 tsp vanilla flavoring ½ tsp salt 2 cups grated carrots 1½ cups Crisco oil 1½ cups walnuts Small can crushed pineapples 3 eggs Mix ingredients until well blended. Grease tube pan and shake with flour. Bake on 350 degrees in tube pan for 1 hour. To test if cake is completely done, take a toothpick or skewer stick and stick in the top of the cake pan. If it comes out smooth, cake is done. If it is a little gooey, cook an additional 15 minutes and repeat the test. Remove...

I’ve been wanting to add kale to the smoothies I make for myself and my toddler, but I kept thinking I needed to find the right recipe to make the perfect “concoction.” Well, since that wasn’t happening, the other day I just decided to whip up our smoothies the way I normally do and I’d add the kale right in! I had purchased a bag of frozen kale, which worked out really well because there’s no need to thaw or cook it….and the smoothies are chilled anyway. So this is my normal “recipe”...
